WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO HIRE A CONTRACTOR?

Most paving contractors will do a good job on your site.  However, hiring an uninsured or inexperienced contractor can cost you even more than project’s cost and world of trouble.  Perfect Patch Asphalt has over 34 years of experience installing, maintaining, and removing asphalt and concrete and enjoys a 95% customer retention rate – this matters to our clients and to us.  We strategize with our clients, suggest price sensitive alternatives, and guarantee all of our work.  A little homework upfront can save a lot of time, money and frustration down the road.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF MILLING?

Cold Mill Planing is 2 to 3 times faster than traditional asphalt removal.  This means less time on your site, less cost to remove old asphalt and a graded surface that is less compromised by over travel by heavy equipment.  It is essential that your paving contractor owns their own mill.  Hiring a disinterested subcontractor who doesn’t understand or address the drainage, slope or other property specifics can lead to avoidable problems, delays and increased costs.  Milling and paving go hand in hand – don’t settle for less.

Further, our mill is an environmentally sensitive, eco-friendly machine.  It conserves fuel with its computerized demand system, emits low noise, and grades and recycles the asphalt in one pass.

Another advantage is minimizing the Wicking Effect. The wicking effect occurs when traditional removal methods are used, traveling over a surface with heavy equipment (loaders, dump trucks, etc.) several times can cause underlying water to be “wicked” to the surface.  All at once, a surface3 that was once hard can become soft.  This results in either a change order to stabilize the subgrade or the paving contractor paves on top of soft ground.  Neither of these situations occur if the old asphalt is removed a mill.  After one pass the old asphalt is removed and graded for paving.  With a mill there will only be two times that we drive over the surface before the lot is paved.  With conventional removal methods, the surface of the dirt could be driven over upwards of 10 times before it is paved.  Milling eliminates the cost of dump fees Associated with dumping broken asphalt (rip-rap)

We will transit your site and consult with our foreman, engineers and customer to recommend the necessary options to assure proper drainage.  This is an essential part of your property’s water management system to assure the integrity of your investment.

It is essential to bid “apples to apples” to make sure you get the most for your maintenance dollar.  Use an estimate from an established company and be sure the other contractors bid the same services.  If you are convinced that less maintenance is sufficient, re-solicit the other companies for this new estimate.  This last step can be critical to saving time and expense.
